What’s Budva, Montenegro Known For?<\/span><\/h2>\nI discovered Montenegro because I’d heard about the beach town of Budva. Budva is the most popular city, but not the capital. The capital is actually Podgorica.<\/span><\/p>\nBudva is known for its incredible mountain scenery and friendly people. But for a solo male traveler, Budva Montenegro is known as the vacation destination for beautiful Russian tourists.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
The Famous Belgrade to Montenegro Train<\/h2>\n
<\/p>\n
The train from Serbia to Montenegro is the most scenic in the world.<\/span><\/p>\nTo get to Budva, I think the most convenient route is Belgrade to a small town called Bar.\u00a0 Then a taxi to Budva.<\/span><\/p>\nIn Bar, there’s only one bus to Budva per day. It’s much more convenient to take a taxi. Also, the driving time is one hour.<\/span><\/p>\nThe taxi ride is about $35.<\/span><\/p>\nYou could probably do it a bit cheaper if you take the train to Podgorica, then take a bus to Budva.<\/span><\/p>\nRegarding the train ride, the scenery starts about 2 hours before getting to Bar.<\/span><\/p>\n(That is why you can take the overnight train from Belgrade. At least in the summer because the last two hours are in daylight.)<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Accommodations in Budva, Montenegro<\/h2>\n

Budva is a beach town. There are tons of hotels near the beaches, and there are beaches all up and down the beautiful coast.<\/span><\/p>\nI stayed at the Hotel Tre Canne in the Slovenska section of Budva. This area of the Budva Riviera felt like the center of town.<\/span><\/p>\nThis was a nice hotel; however, it looked and felt like a condo that was converted into a hotel. Yes, there was daily maid service, but it felt like something was missing.<\/span><\/p>\nThe view from my room over the Adriatic was amazing.<\/span><\/p>\nAlso, the bar on the top floor of the hotel had an amazing view too. The bar itself is a bit old and stuffy.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
What to Do in Budva, Montenegro<\/h2>\n

Old Town Budva<\/h3>\n

This really is the old section of Budva. Apparently, it was the first part of Budva built many years ago.<\/span><\/p>\nYou walk into the town through the “gates.”<\/span><\/p>\nWhen you’re inside, there are small cobblestone streets and shops.<\/span><\/p>\nAt night, there are bars for partying. In fairness, I didn’t spend much time at the bars, but I didn’t see many hot girls at these bars at night.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
The Rocks & Ballerina Statue<\/h3>\n

There are a ton of beaches in Budva. Just outside the Old Town section, you can walk up the coast along the rocks to another beach called Morgen Beach.<\/span><\/p>\nHere you will see the Ballerina Statue that is famous in Budva. Casino in The Splenda Hotel Budva Montenegro<\/h3>\n

The Splenda Hotel is supposedly one of the nicest in Budva.<\/span><\/p>\nI went there because there is a casino on the tenth floor. The rumor is that one of the James Bond movies was filmed in this casino. I don’t think that’s true.<\/span><\/p>\nThe casino was ok. It was small because it was only on one floor of a hotel.<\/span><\/p>\nI was there on a Thursday night, and it was dead.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Mediteranska street Budva Montenegro<\/h3>\n

I think this street was the main street in Budva. There’s a small mall on it.<\/span><\/p>\nThere are decent restaurants on the main street that are good for people watching.<\/span><\/p>\nAlso, there’s a cool coffee shop to enjoy the busy street. It reminded me of when I used to sit at Coffee Bean on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles and watch the traffic go by.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
